It looks like the end is near - you have a Brain Tumor, Rabies, Anthrax and now you've even contracted Small Pox. Only a small miracle could save you from certain death. And then it happens, you roll doubles. You're in luck! Your Animal Helper is the Rodent so you get to cure your Brain Tumor and Rabies. You're back in the game of life or, at least, the game Infection - Animal Helpers© Version, an educational board game with the potential for teaching students about various diseases, disease transmission, types of remedies, the healthcare system, and the "animal helpers" used in research to help cure various illnesses and diseases. Infection's disease cards are color coded to indicate the degree of seriousness (from red being the most serious followed by white and then blue). Each card includes the disease's common and Latin names, causes, symptoms, and treatments. Multiple medical libraries and medical professionals have been consulted to insure the accuracy of the information. The object of the game is for players to cure themselves of their diseases before they "die."

To go a step beyond the game, we have developed an educational curriculum for 4th through 8th graders called the "Playbook . . . to Better Health" which introduces a series of easy-to-use, customized and thought-provoking "Game Plans" for 1 hour during a five-week period (the "Game Plans" can be previewed online - see below). The Playbook curriculum comes with:

If you are an Ohio teacher and would like to receive the games and materials free of charge (valued at over $250) to conduct the Playbook curriculum in your class, please complete the following registration form.

NOTE: All teachers who receive the curriculum must agree to administer the Pre- and Post-Questionnaires to students. OSERA can not guarantee that funding will be available to provide free materials to all who request them.
